I’m a Sky Dancer!

December 2nd, mountain morning off our back porch.

This morning was brilliant, I have never seen a sky as colorful. The glorious prospect of a beautiful day presented itself to me when I looked out our kitchen window at the view above.  I can be superstitious at times, sentimental with a hint of skepticism, but this morning I took that knock out view as a sign of a positive change in my life.

Yesterday, I was offered to become part of the Front Page Team of writers over at SkyDancingBlog.com… A place to discuss real issues.  I am proud to announce that I excitedly accepted Dak, BB and Wonk’s offer…I am now a Sky Dancer!

This is a huge opportunity for me, I realize how significant this blog is and I am so honored to be part of such a dynamic group of writers.

I will be writing the morning round-ups on Wednesdays and Sundays…with a few “Minx’s Observations” post thrown in.

Ever since I was 10 years old, when I wrote a story about a little Japanese-American girl witnessing the attack on Pearl Harbor…I have wanted to become a writer.  To be able to say…yes, I’m a writer for a such a fantastic and substantial blog as Sky Dancing is truly the realization of a dream. The morning colors across the sky was magnificent to see…the feel of sharp cold air was exhilarating to breathe, and the promise of a bright future was a treasure to behold.

Go ahead…make your move!

This is my attempt to work through my thoughts and ideals…so if you get offended or do not agree with me, I am sorry...that's your opinion and I am glad that you have it! This undertaking is my own. I write this blog for me alone, and it's not meant to persuade anyone. Just because I link it, does not mean I completely agree with it…It just means I read these articles and form my own opinions. This blog is my way of giving myself a proper flogging about the head and shoulders. It is a form of self-torture that I must work out.

"I get very passionate about what I think is right."-Hillary Rodham Clinton

"When you stumble, keep faith. And when you're knocked down, get right back up and never listen to anyone who says you can't or shouldn't go on." -Hillary Rodham Clinton

Hillary Rodham Clinton

“I supported Hillary because she was the best candidate, because she was a woman, and because I am a woman. Women’s rights, women’s voices, women’s representation, women’s causes, and the fact that she was a smart populist woman instead of another empty suit — yes, absolutely, all reasons I supported Hillary Clinton.” -Wonk the Vote

Hillary’s Quotes

"We are here to advance the cause of women and to advance the cause of democracy and to make it absolutely clear that the two are inseparable. There cannot be true democracy unless women's voices are heard. There cannot be true democracy unless women are given the opportunity to take responsibility for their own lives."

"Take criticism seriously, but not personally. If there is truth or merit in the criticism, try to learn from it. Otherwise, let it roll right off you."

"The challenge is to practice politics as the art of making what appears to be impossible, possible."

"What we have to do... is to find a way to celebrate our diversity and debate our differences without fracturing our communities."

"We need to understand that there is no formula for how women should lead their lives. That is why we must respect the choices that each woman makes for herself and her family. Every woman deserves the chance to realize her God-given potential."

"It is a violation of human rights when babies are denied food, or drowned, or suffocated, or their spines broken, simply because they are born girls.

It is a violation of human rights when women and girls are sold into the slavery of prostitution.

It is a violation of human rights when women are doused with gasoline, set on fire and burned to death because their marriage dowries are deemed too small.

It is a violation of human rights when individual women are raped in their own communities and when thousands of women are subjected to rape as a tactic or prize of war.

It is a violation of human rights when a leading cause of death worldwide among women ages 14 to 44 is the violence they are subjected to in their own homes.

It is a violation of human rights when young girls are brutalized by the painful and degrading practice of genital mutilation.

It is a violation of human rights when women are denied the right to plan their own families, and that includes being forced to have abortions or being sterilized against their will.

If there is one message that echoes forth from this conference, it is that human rights are women's rights - and women's rights are human rights. Let us not forget that among those rights are the right to speak freely - and the right to be heard." (from 'Women's Rights Are Human Rights' Speech Beijing, China: 5 September 1995)

  • Wednesday Reads: Begging, no more.
I can’t do this anymore. I live in a house where everyone has no problem with the crimes against humanity that tRump and his administration is committing at the border. (My mom is so sick now, she doesn’t have the strength to fight cancer and the assholes in this family.) I am losing my wits. […]
  • Sunday Reads: Twenty Years
Good Morning? It is never a good morning with that asshole in office. That headline above could seriously be used for tRump…with all the crimes he has committed. That he is getting away with… it is infuriating. These last two days I had to stay away from the news. I could not subject myself […]

If anyone saw the Rep. Pramila Jayapal interview last night on Chris Hayes…you know the absolute terror and disgust that can make an actual pain in your chest. If you have not seen this interview, stop what you are doing right now, and watch it. Rep. Jayapal: Mothers didn’t even get to say bye to […]

I think this part of Boston Boomer’s post title from yesterday was spot on: “These Days I Often Cry While Reading News” …yup, I do that too! Only I would take it a step further, and say that lately, I often start to hyperventilate and have anxiety attacks while scrolling through the Twitter feed. […]

I don’t know about you, but I need to take a break from everything…so before we get to the cartoons, I will post some empowering messages. And a few messages that scream, don’t stay silent!       Today’s post is a bit all over the place…so I hope you can follow it…my brain is feeling the effects of the tRump presidency and it has become almost debilitating. I feel like I have some form of OCD, there is the constant itch in my thoughts. I can’t get rid of it. Like […]
