Strange connection

The other day while waiting in the car for Dan to come out of the store this song played:

It is about the closest thing we have to “Our Song” and it is not much of a love song either. It was Dan’s first trip to the mountains with the Lopez Family, and as usual…it started with an ominous sign. Of course Daddy wanted to take the original big ugly van, and of course it broke down just outside of Ocala FL. We had to stay at the Happy Mart for 4 hours while the van was towed back to Tampa and my Dad and Mom switched out the luggage to the Toyota. Denny, Dan and I were stuck there listening to this song over and over (it was all that was played on the juke box) so many hours…waiting for them to come and pick us up. Denny must have eating 6 orders of french fries…and there was this strange man outside in a cowboy hat with a roach clip of chicken feathers preaching about the end of the world. Dan should have taken it as a sign..we had only been seeing each other a couple months, and got married just two months after the fiasco of the early morning hours spent at the Ocala Happy Mart.

Last night, while looking for comedies on Filmstruck…my son noticed the 1994 Oliver Stone movie, Natural Born Killers.
